Best Way to Spend a Summer Day on Chincoteague
When the summer hits, we love to spend as much time as possible outside enjoying the beautiful weather in our neighboring, charming town of Chincoteague. Not sure how to spend your next free summer day? From breakfast all the way to watching the sunset, we've mapped out the best way to spend a summer day on Chincoteague!
Start the day off right with a delicious breakfast from Chincoteague Diner and Restaurant. Sleep in a little bit? Don't worry, the full breakfast menu is available all day!
Morning Activity - Kayaking
After breakfast, head over to Snug Harbor Marina for a kayak rental, or for a guided eco tour through the Chincoteague and Assateague waterways. If you're a big fan of the local wild ponies, these kayak tours offers an amazing glimpse of them right from the marsh.
Worked up an appetite on the water? Grab a quick lunch at Pico Taqueria, our favorite local taco stand with a great variety of chicken, beef, fish, shrimp and even oyster tacos.
Afternoon Activity - Biking
Head over to the Bike Depot for bike rentals of beach cruisers, tandem bikes, kiddie karts and more. Explore downtown or take a more natural route through miles of trails on Chincoteague's National Wildlife Refuge.
For fresh, local seafood, head to one of our favorites: Don's Seafood Restaurant. Don's is located in the heart of downtown Chincoteague, with panoramic views of Chincoteague Channel. If you stick around late enough, head upstairs to Chatties Lounge, with music and dancing nightly and live entertainment on weekends.
After dinner take a very short walk to Robert Reed Waterfront Park for beautiful sunset views over the Chincoteague Bay.
