Celebrate the Holidays on Virginia's Eastern Shore
Dec 09, 2016
It's holiday season on Virginia's Eastern Shore, with events all month long like Santa's arrival, free holiday movie viewings, and New Year's Eve celebrations!
Every holiday season, families head to Chincoteague for a calendar packed with fun, free holiday events. This weekend, attend the Children's Tea Party with Mrs. Claus. Then in just a few weeks, the big man himself will be visiting, stopping by the North Side of Chincoteague Island on the 20th and the South Side on the 21st.
On Friday nights throughout December, head to Cape Charles to do your Christmas shopping, as well as enjoy free, holiday fun. Upcoming Fridays will feature live music, visits with Santa, showing of favorite holiday movies like Elf and The Polar Express, kids crafts and more!
This weekend, Santa will arrive by boat, lead by his fleet of Kayak Reindeer. Following his arrival, head to the Holiday Open House at Ker Place for photos with Santa. On Sunday, the Hometown Christmas Parade of fire trucks, ponies, floats, bands and more will go down Market Street and through town.
This end of year celebration culminates in a promenade of crazy costumes just before the countdown to the stroke of midnight. This year's theme - Boots, Chaps & Cowboy Hats! Then the lighted horseshoe drops to ring in the New Year!
Ring in the new year in Cape Charles with the 3rd Annual Dropping the Crab Pot!
