Latest and Greatest Drivers, Putters & Balls
Aug 28, 2014
Calling all golf fanatics! The weather this summer has been mild and great for hitting the links often without having to endure the sweltering heat. There are many new products in the marketplace to consider, but we thought we'd share the best staples of the game: drivers, putters and balls.
Our research took us to several sites as we wanted to gain insight from different perspectives. Take a look at what we found:
Drivers: Of the 5 drivers tested our favorite is the Ping G25. Having actually used this driver it hit smooth, straight and far...with a novice using it for the first time. That's a true test!
Putters (Blade): 10 blade putters were tested by 12 golfers of varying ages and skill levels. While being biased to Odyssey (White Hot Pro) it turns out this test scored the Odyssey Tank Cruiser #1 the highest.
Putters (Mallet): A whopping 24 mallet putters tested by 10 golfers found the Ping Ketsch winner by a landslide over it's competitors for accuracy. This putter scored 132 vs. the next closest score of 97!
Balls: A wide variety of new 2014 golf balls came out from icons like Jack Nicklaus and his Golden Bear balls (made by Bridgestone) to industry giant Callaway Golf and their new Speed Regime balls. Nike also came out with their RZN line of color coded balls featuring 4 different performance aspects to consider. The biggest bang for the buck comes from Hopkins Golf (started by Cleveland Golf's old CEO) new VL Pro balls. At around $10 cheaper per dozen along with free shipping...you should have some of these in you bag!
Bonus: Find great deals on used golf balls for practice and more.
We hope you enjoyed this review and look forward to seeing you out on the greens at Captains Cove Golf Course!
